The company mark on this platter is that of Oscar and Edgar Gutherz pottery of Altrohlau, Austria, used during the late 19th Century. Like many potteries operating in Europe from the late 1880’s until World War One ( 1914), most of their production was made< for export to the USA, then the largest growing market. Values for these platters depends a great deal on condition, a worns or badly chipped example is less than a quarter of one in very good condition.
