Frequently Asked Questions

We receive a huge number of appraisal/reference questions each week by  e-mail, but most are variations of those listed below:

Q. What's the difference between the $11.95 appraisal and the $18.95 appraisals?

A. Our $18.95 appraisal gives you far more information regarding your item compared to the $11.95 version. The $11.95 appraisal basically provides you with the items dateof production and current value, the $18.95 version would list the maker, company history, and in some cases links to detailed online resources regarding the
item. Here is a link to an $18.95 appraisal for you to view

Q. Is my item worth having appraised?

A. We won't know until we've examined the information and images you  have provided, but our statistics from 1996-2007 indicate that less than 2%  of the items we have examined have been worth less than $15.00.  If you  feel that your item could worth less than our fee use our Auction Estimates  service.

Q. Is there a discount for multiple items?

A. Yes, if you have 15 items of more we offer a volume discount of 15%.

Q. What items don't you appraise?

A. We can provide appraisals for most antique & collectible items with the exception of coins, stamps and textile products such as quilts, clothing and tapestries.

Q. What happens if you are unable to provide me with an appraisal for  my item?

A. We would provide you with a full refund for that item via the PayPal  secure payment system.

Q. I'm nervous about making payments online, how safe is it?

A. We use the PayPal secure payment system which uses the same
encryption programs as all the major banking and financial institutions  and is insured by Travelers insurance for transactions up to $100,000.

Q. I would like to sell my collection, are you interested in buying it or  where would be the best place to market it?

A. We operate strictly as an appraisal/reference information service, we  are not in the business of buying, selling or acting as a sales agent on  any customer's behalf.

Q. Who can I call or where can I go for a free appraisal?

A. There are several places you can get free appraisals, we have a list of  26 you can access at our Free Appraisals Page.

recommend one?

the members by specialty and area by clicking here.
